I'm watching my loved one die.
I'm held by anchor weight blood ties.
My heart is growing colder.
Sister, release the gods within your veins
and now she's dying to find,
and now she's trying to keep you alive.
Sister fall,
Sister let your gods fall.
This sorrow of kin,
I'll carry mine
A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
Toronto band Respire deliver a post-hardcore tour de force on the largest scale possible, orchestrally rich and incessantly uncompromising. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 6, 2021
Very chill, but deceptively technical post metal full of imagery and feeling. I listen to this album and I picture myself as one of the people on the cover. I feel the cold wind as I pull my jacket tighter. The ocean mist hits my face with the smell of fish and salt. The boat rises and falls with each wave. I would liken it a bit to Altar of Plagues.
